Thanks for reaching out for some help with this SMS/MMS issue.  I’ve noticed text messages being sent to my phone as an MMS in certain situations also.  Usually this happens when you’re a part of a group message or somebody sends you a really long text.  The long text will be converted into an MMS to be easier to send.

I believe the issue may lie with the sender of the text.  You mentioned this is only happening with one contact, which leads me to think there is a setting on the sender’s phone which is responsible for this.  Are the messages they’re sending long?  Are they texting you through an old group messaging thread?

I would recommend deleting all messages you have between you and this contact, then starting a new message thread with them.
