Hey @edouble123!

That’s a great question!

This is a surcharge imposed on business conducted in the New York City Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District.

This is a surcharge on gross receipts charge and the company is showing this as a separate item on the bill so that the customer is aware of this additional tax on telecommunications related charges.

It is based on the New York Telecommunications Excise Tax and New York Gross Receipts Tax applied in the following counties:

  • Bronx
  • Dutchess
  • Kings
  • Nassau
  • New York
  • Orange
  • Putnam
  • Queens
  • Richmond
  • Rockland
  • Suffolk
  • Westchester

Thanks for reaching out, have an awesome day!
