We are making exciting changes to AT&T GoPhone, our prepaid service, that our customers will start to see at national retailers and online.
Starting on Friday, July 14th 2017, AT&T GoPhone is changing its name to AT&T PREPAID. New name –same great service, network and value. You’ll see changes in verbiage, but don’t worry, everything will still work, including GoPhone refill cards and phones.
Even though the service will stay the same, we know you all will have some great questions. Please keep reading below to get answers to all your GoPhone and AT&T PREPAID questions, as well as a great new promotion that starts July 14th 2017!

I got a message from AT&T that my old prepay plan was being discontinued and that starting Sept. 26 it would be changed to $1 day with no per minute charges...does this mean I'll be charged $1 on days the phone isn't used at all or on days when only texts are sent/received? What about mobile to mobile calls? I can find no details for this new plan.

Why is the SpareOne phone not being supported anymore? I received this e-mail today:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, your SpareOne Emergency phone service will be discontinued as of October 15, 2017. If you are enrolled in AutoPay, your AutoPay payments for your SpareOne service will be canceled as well."
Does this have something to do with the change from GoPhone to Prepaid? I find this hard to believe it was "unforseen." These phones are an important part of my emergency hurricane supply kit so I'm not happy these are expiring in October.

Hello? Any response from AT&T on why the SpareOne is being discontinued? With Irma bearing down on Florida here this is the exact situation I have the SpareOne in my kit. Glad they're still working now, but why discontinue service to this potentially life-saving device?

SpareOne has apparently disappeared from the face of the earth. E-mails bounce and none of the numbers listed on their web site work (just fast busy signals). I spoke to an AT&T Prepaid rep and he couldn't offer any explanation as to why the phone is being discontinued, but maybe SpareOne going out of business has something to do with it. This is extremely disappointing, especially now with Hurricane Irma bearing down on us here in Florida, as this was a great device for the emergency kit. No longer. Sad.

I would advise all to stay well away from AT&T prepaid! I purchased a phone with a 6-month connection requirement and 10-months later I cannot get the thing unlocked. I have moved countries and I'm still paying to have a monthly US contract because of some administrative glitch.

I’m trying to create an account. I already have the phone number but I can’t proceed with the registration. It also says that the IMEI can’t be recognized. Any help?

@lizdance40, why in every of your replies does this show up:

@lordodogg You can add a “signature” in the settings of your profile. It covers the most common confusions on the forum. Or should... some still don’t get the “community” means customers. And plenty still think we pull answers out of our... imagination.. 😉

How can I send you a private message?
What happens if I block my credit card?
To me is incredible that in this century you are not able to cancel an account when someone is outside the country...

I love ATT Prepaid! It works great! There's no tricks, no gimmiks. I get exactly what I want exactly when I want it. I LOVE it! Completely satisfied that we switched over to AT&T Prepaid from Verizon!
