International calls cannot be completed

Unable to call some random international numbers.

The numbers are the ones which I regularly used to call and suddenly  the messages I hear is that 'The international call cannot be placed'. I talked to customer care, but no solid response. they say nothing is right at their end, but I still cannot call 😞

ATT GO Phone, Please contact me or give me number where I can contact and get this resolved.

Thanks,

Hello @swapsnil!

I am sorry to hear you are having issues placing international calls. I am glad you reached out to us for assistance!

The dialing pattern depends on what country you are calling. To make calls and send messages from the U.S, please enter the plus sign (+), followed by the country code and local number. For example, to call UK: +44 (local number in UK).

Please review this link for additional details regarding International Long distance and Roaming calling. In addition, you may want to check out the excellent AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool, which provides a useful guide to resolve calling issues. Make sure to select your phone’s make and model > Service/Network > Phone calls.

I hope this information helps! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to let us know.

Have a nice day!

Anabel,

Thanks for the response.

I know how to dial international calls as I was following same till the time it stopped working.

I am dialing to India and I know it starts with +91 and followed with India number.

It seems like ATT is unable to resolve the issue as I had called customer care a lot of times and everytime I start with scratch to make understand the issue. Looks like its time to switch to different carrier.

Thanks,

Swapnil.

Hello,

i am getting the same message that "International calls cannot be completed as dialed, please check the  number and dial again".

I have been dialing this number for the past two years and suddenly it stopped through AT&T, while it still works through other carriers.

Any resolution in solving this issue or do we have to drop AT&T and switch to other carrier?

I am calling to India.

I got fixed automatically after few days.
I had called number if times to customer care, but none of them were able
to figure out the issue.

I would suggest to wait for somedays.
If still nothing happens, try to port your number to another service
provider.

This problem has been going for the last two weeks. I called customer service today by dialing 611.

They tried few things and then asked me to call the International Care (314)-925-6925.

I spent more than an hour on the phone trying to solve the issue. In the second attempt, the representative asked me to switch off the phone and turn it back on.

That did not work. The guy said he would call me to check if it is working, but never did. Pathetic customer service.

So I called again for the third time. This time the representative asked me to turn-off the WiFi and verify the Data Roaming is turned ON and then asked me to Reset the Network Settings. I did that and phone got switched off and then turned back on. But I still have the problem.

AT&T makes billions of dollars in quarterly profits ($19 billion last quarter), but they are not able to provide a decent technical support and a decent customer service experience. It is disgusting how they are treating the customers.

When you dial 611 or (314)-925-6925, you have to hold for at least 7 to 10 minutes during which time they have the SAME messages being repeated over and over again.

Why can't they just play some music instead? Why do we have to listen to the SAME messages 1000 times?

Or at the very least, play the message once and then play some music?

In all my three calls, all the customer representatives have no clue what is going on. All they could say was switch off the phone and turn it back on, reset the network settings, turn-off WiFi, update iOS to the latest version, verify data roaming is ON -- all which I have already done it multiple times myself even before calling them.

They have no technical knowledge -- not even the basic skills of debugging an issue.

Why does AT&T hire such incompetent people?

Why can't AT&T hire qualified personnel and provide good technical support and also teach the representatives basic manners in English speaking?

I do not know who participated in the customer satisfication index survey -- apparently AT&T has been number one from 2001 to 2017 (this is one of the messages they play over and over, when you are holding the phone). That is total rubbish.

Actually I have been AT&T's customer that long for 17years -- but nobody has ever called me or emailed me about the customer service satisfication index survey.

AT&T customer service is one of the worst!

You don't have to deal with them unless there is a problem in making calls or in the billing statements. It is always better to have minimum interaction with them.

I think it is time for me to put a stop to this garbage service provided by AT&T. Totally incompetent and inconsiderate and completely stupid people.

We should start a movement to boycott such poor customer service and also file a complaint with FCC for charging money for the international calling service and failing to deliver it.

HI all,

We're having exactly the same problem. People on the AT&T network can't call any of our numbers at work. They can call other UK numbers but not our number range.

This has been going on since October 2017.

Our suppliers have contacted AT&T (not much joy) , and believe the problem is something to do with one of the international phone carriers between AT&T and the UK, but this can't be traced from our end and needs to be traced from AT&T's end to see how their routing works.  It used to work , so someone somewhere has corrupted the routing table to loads of numbers by the sound of it.

If AT&T can let us know the route their calls take, then we can chase down the line if they can't.

We're having the same issue .   It pretty much says the number is invalid although you can call that number from Comcast and other carriers.    It's been like this for weeks.  Today we just called at&t and they've absolutely no clue!!!    We can't believe this problem has been going on for years and months and they don't train their representatives at all.     There was one suggestion in the thread to call at&t international and see if they can figure out!!
