Go phone calling and texting from Canada

Going to Canada fishing for a week. Have $45/month go phone plan. Don't plan to use my phone much, but would like to send photo text messages to some family members. How much will this cost me? Should I temporarily switch to the $60 per month plan?

Hi @Brush44200!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums – I hope everything is good in Wisconsin! I know you can’t wait to take that trip to Canada….I have been once and it was so beautiful. I couldn’t stop taking pictures and texting my friends and family, so I understand where you are coming from.

Yes, you would have to go to the $60.00 plan because that is the only one that includes Talk, Text and Data usage in Canada. You can take pictures of all those big fish that you catch while you are there and share them with your family.

To get more details on the plans, go to https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/gophone-plans.html.

Enjoy your trip…catch lots of fish and have fun!

I’m now in Canada for a vacation. I have a $30 prepaid plan with AT&T and I don’t plan to use my phone but I (mistakenly) sent a reply to someone by text, back in the US.

Did the text message go through/reach that someone in the US? Am I going to be charged extra for it? How much? Thanks

@Katips Yes you would get charged for that text provided you have money in your account. The cost to send a text from Canada on your plan is $0.25. If your account balance is $0, the text likely did not get delivered.
