25 cent plan
I have prepaid plan (GoPhone) in the USA. Why does the 25 cent plan charge by the second? I made a mistake and connected to the internet; I quickly disconnected. I was not quick enough, AT&T charged me for 1 second. Is AT&T that hard up that it squeezes money by the second from customers?

a charge to me for $0.25 for an incoming call that lasted 1 second. Also, a
data charge of $0.01 for 3.14 KB. That's squeezing every penny from every
person that is signed up with them. If they could charge me in 1/100 of a
penny they probably would. Pretty low in my opinion. I'm looking for
something else.

That call may have lasted only a second but you were charged for a minute. The time frame starts once your phone rings, not when it is answered. As for the $0.01 data charge, I can’t explain that. The $0.25/min plan does not even have data, or at least it shouldn’t.

will make changes. That billing system is designed to extract every penny
of every dollar from the customer. I don't mind paying for a service; I do
mind being nitpicked and nickel and dimed by AT&T. That will soon change.

Wrong? I wrote you get charged by the minute, not the second. A one second call is billed for a full minute. Read section 3.
You can call ATT 611 is a free call - and ask them to permanently turn data off on the line. This can only be done on prepaid.

Good luck wit that. I don’t think you will find any prepaid carrier or plan that does it any different.
