want to get a 2nd dsl line but at&t refuses.

I live on the edge of a golf course that has million dollar homes all around. My building is not quite like that but I do have 3600 sq . ft. 5 bedroom apt in a 3 unit large house.

Our service box is a mile away at the other side of the golf course so while I have internet 18, I rarely get more than 15 mb download and several times a day it chokes and we have to hard reset the modem. AT&T techs have looked at it 3 times and in summary, we're screwed. No other service is available as satellite is all, and the data limits kill us because 2 kids have online school. We use so much data that satellite service might be $500 a month!

The tech says get a bonded pair. I call. Sorry. Not available. So he said get a 2nd dsl line. I call. Sorry. Those are only for businesses. I said OK, give me a business account. I don't have one. However I'll pay for the extra. Nope. You have to give proof you have a business. And just getting a business license is not enough proof.

So what the heck do I do? AT&T's monopoly of this area is crazy when they provide the level of service I had 25 years ago. Why can't I get a 2nd line? 6 people in a house and I have to get by on a lousy 15 mb dl rate? The million dollar houses around me have the same problem. However 3.mikes away in the projects, they 100get

Anyone know who to contact to get a waiver or something? I can prove we have 2 kids in online school. The kid in college even has trouble live streaming some of his classes. He has to use my phone to call in to it because he can't get audio to work with the limited upload speed of the whopping 1 mb!

Nevermind at this point. I've been in contact with the AT&T office of the president and was denied any help in resolving my problem. I just have to continue to deal with daily drop outs of my dsl service and dl speeds under 2 mb/s
