I am sorry for the issues you are having with your U-verse gateway. The gateway's IP address may have changed. To find out what it is here is a great article that goes over finding your IP address. It will display the default gateway, which is the IP address you want to put in your browser. If you are still having problems, try resetting the gateway by pressing and holding the red reset button on the back for at least 10 seconds.

Hi Mike.
Copy the Access Code / Device Access Code / System Password from the router
Login to 192.168.1.254
Click on Wireless from the Home Tab
Once you get to the Wireless settings, it may require you to put in the access code.
Then you can change the Network Name (SSID) to anything you prefer.

Hello mnjlove66, those were some great instructions provided by paulgarcia. Where you able to change the network name on your residential gateway?

That is not the screen I am seeing. It gives me an option to change my access code, but not my router name and password.
