Some have posted that they had to have DSL disconnected before Uverse could be installed.  If you don't get a definitive answer contact TS at 800.288-2020.

Your DSL disconnect is based off the way your order was placed. For the most part, it usually does disconnect the day the U-verse is installed. As rcsmg stated, sometimes it has to be disconnected before the U-verse is installed. If you are connecting it to an unrelated line, you can request to have them both working and turn off your DSL when you are ready to.

It's dependent on when the cease order due date is set. The general idea is to have sales write the (DSL) cease order and the (Uverse) provide order to coincide on the same day. You're still going to incur maybe 4-8 hours of downtime though, depending on when the premise technician can get out there (i.e. your dispatch reservation).
