How do I fix my laptop when it won't connect to the internet because it doesn't have a valid IP configuration?

This is a known Windows issue. Make sure that your laptop has all the latest fixes from Microsoft. Windows 10 is their current version, fixes for older versions may not exist. I would refer you to Microsoft forums for a detailed way to resolve.
