Preparing for Self Install IP IG51x -- Specs Needed for Longer Data Cable

Hi,

Will be receiving the self install kit for U-Verse 12Mbps which should include a IP IG51x and 10ft data cable (i.e., wall to router).  According to other posts, this router is the same as the Motorola NVG510.

This forum has conflicting reports on the specs of a longer data cable apparently due to diffent modems/service.  My best guess, based on other posts, is that I need to find a 20 ft. cat 5e cable with RJ-11 connectors on both ends for optimal performance.  Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

I'll reply to my own post for others in this situation.

I purchased a 15ft Belkin High Speed Internet Modem Cable for about $12. Belkin claims that POTS cable is limited to 10MBps whereas this one transmits up to 100MBps. This cable is working well and may enhance internet speeds if you are paying for >10MBps and need a >=10ft. data cable.

As an aside, although AT&T online order process indicated that an IP IG51x would be shipped I received a Motorola NVG510.
