Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

I'm using hp laptop with Windows OS. Every time I try to use internet I lost my wifi signal. I can see the limited signal every time. And when I click on the wifi button it takes forever to search my wifi. I tried to shutdown and restart but I cannot fix the problem. I called both Windows customers service and AT&T but Windows says there is something wrong with my internet and AT&T says there is something wrong with my computer. So losing my hope to use Internet without any problem I'm thinking to change the provider. Also nowadays I'm having problem to connect to wifi with my phone. My wifi just gets lost time to time and I have to wait few minutes till it gets connected. I hope somebody will see this and help me to fix the problem. Thanks

Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

Try, unplugging your power cord from the back of your router wait 10 seconds. Reconnect it back, wait for the broadband and service light to stay solid green. This should take about 5 minutes. Hope this works out for you. Good luck

Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

What is the WPS switch for on the NVG599 router. I can't use my PC that is wireless to get on the internet. I did have the 2 wire & it worked fine. I a'am a newbe & don't know how to set my PC to this new router. How can I get some help?

Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

@newbe1 - It should be the same (but different name/pw). Find your newtork on the computer & enter the PW & connect.

WPS is a "simmplified" method - when WPS buttton is activated on both the RG & the PC they will connect auto.Window is short for security.

Make sure WPS is enabled in RG. Is this your GUI - http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_2_1

All lights on but no connections on WiFi

This has been going on since May and I convinced them the router was bad. Got a new Router but I'm having to reboot it about every 2nd day. Getting annoying and thinking of going to Comcast.

Situation -

All appropriate lights are on: Power, Wireless, System and Broadband However, cannot connect to the Wireless Network and hence cannot connect to the internet - When I try to log onto the homepage of the router through wireless, cannot reach it. I did another reboot this morning -

This is a short view of the event log - the first line is where I started the reboot. What the heck is it doing that results in the acs connreq about every 2 hours as it seems not to come back from there? Should I be requesting ANOTHER new modem? I tend to think it is a modem issue because all the lights are on and no connection is possible.

Re: All lights on but no connections on WiFi

Hi @kdphipps,

Sorry to read of your experience. In the past, modem environment has played a factor when it comes to internet service. It can make or break the service. Check out this article, it may help.

By chance, do you have any other wi-fi devices and is the loss happening on all of them?

Re: All lights on but no connections on WiFi

Thanks for getting back. Yes all devices are impacted. More info is available on the laptops but the rest of the devices just show they cannot connect. I have live chatted and a tech will be out tomorrow but since this is intermittent, I do not have high hopes.

Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

Internet is extremely slow and taking up to 30 minutes to to access a webpage only to lose service and have to begin all over again. I need to faster service or I am switching providers. This Internet is not good if you are in school.

Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

This Uverse internet really sucks. I think I'm going to cancel it. I got it to reduce my data useage on my phone but my phone is way faster. Why are they calling this high speed anyway.

Re: Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

ATT has continuall disappointed my entire neighborhood with Pathetically slow Internet speeds in our neighborhood (0.6-1.6 Mbps) in the zip code 37871 area. The ruse on all this is ATT continues to label this a U-Verse when in fact it is nothing more than DSL. Our neighborhood is populated with professionals who depend on 10-15 Mbps or greater speeds for their professional as well as personal use but having lived in Houston (20-33 Mbps), I find this lack of attention to the needs of their customers deploable to say the least. Personally I cannot download movies from their business partner without the system "timing out" due to slow internet speeds including those from ATT's business partner Direct TV. The slow speeds are the maximum they offer in our neighborhood so this is not about the cost of a subscription.
