I have intrnet 24. I am retired and want to purchase my own router to cut my monthly bills after upgrading to 45. Is it true we are not allowed to use our own equipment?

You can use your own router but you won’t reduce your bill. You must use the ATT provided gateway router. It is more than just a router, it is also a gateway for connecting to ATT’s internet service. Your router would connect to it.
