Dish network hopper not connecting to internet through new ATT Gateway

Since my new internet gateway was installed my dish network will not connect to any internet applications including Netflix and on demand, they worked fine prior to the new ATT equipment being installed.

I have gone through all trouble shooting procedures both Dish and ATT.

Dish network shows that it's connected via Wifi but none of the Dish devices show in the device list of the ATT Gateway.

Hey @JoeZ2019,

Is the satellite equipment the only device having an issue connecting to the network?

We look forward to your response!

Hi JoeZ2019,

Here is another post that we saw in another thread where the person was having the same issue but was able to fix it by doing the following:

I was doing an internet search for this and found this thread. I chatted with a dish rep and they told me how to get internet with the joey's.I hope this wasnt already answered and Im not just being redundant but here goes anyway.

You dont need to have a wired connection with the joeys to your modem or router. As long as you have an internet connection with the hopper you can try this to fix your problem.

Hit Menu,
go to settings,
go to network setup,
go to broadband,
go to network details,
click on bridging,
then enable,
then save your settings.

After this, a screen will pop up saying that it is configuring your network settings. After that scren another will pop up and then you are done and will have wireless connetivity from the joeys to your internet connection that you have with the hopper and all your apps will work properly.

Thank you for reaching out to AT&T's Community and Forums Team.

It sounds like their Hopper was connected to the internet but the Joeys weren't (that's where bridging comes in is for the joeys to connect through the hopper). In my case the hopper says it's connected (as well as the joeys) but they aren't. They don't show in my internet gateway device list and they report an error on any attempt to access internet content

Hello @JoeZ2019,

Have you reached out to your TV service provided for troubleshooting the equipment? If the receivers show that they are connected to the gateway, but then will not allow you access internet content you may need troubleshooting steps for the equipment. We look forward to your reply!

My concern is the ATT gateway is the new device in the configuration.

Hi There @Joe22019

Please reply here with the following information:

  • You name
  • The name on the account
  • The account number
  • The possible ports that need to be opened from Dish
  • A good contact number

Once we have that information, we can check to see what we can do to help stream your content from Dish.

I have a dish network technician coming to my house this morning so I can ask. I will update this post after their visit.

This issue has been resolved.  For some reason the hopper was installed with a netgear wifi adapter plugged into the Ethernet port. This evidently didn't matter with the old gateway but was interfering with the connectivity to the new gateway. Simply disconnected the netgear device and reconfigured the hopper to connect to wifi and all of the dish equipment now has internet access again.
