DSL is miserable.

DSL is miserable.

I've been reading about G.fast and IPBB. When will these service upgrades come to my area? Can I sign up somewhere? Can I do anything to accelerate its arrival? I don't have any other option. DSL is way too slow for 2019.

Re: DSL is miserable.

what do have for DSL?

Legacy DSL has a best speed of 6 with 150G data cap.... is this what you have?

G.Fast, to my understanding is only for MDU buildings that are exclusive DirecTv located outside the standard 21 state ATT market such as in New York or St Paul where ATT does not own the outside wiring.

IPBB excluding G.Fast is Internet Protocol BroadBand... otherwise known as Uverse Internet prior to the name change in December 2016.

This covers ADSL2+ from CO or RT with speeds from 10, 10, 5, 3, 1.5 or .76 based upon copper loop from the fiber source, no Uverse IPTV option.

VDSL is single or bonded copper pair after the fiber feed VRAD offering speeds of 100, 75, 50 or 25 with IPTV option.

Both ADSL2+ and VDSL is now called ATT Internet with 1T data cap.

The 3rd Uverse internet was previous referred to as Uverse GIgapower now called ATT Fiber internet offering speeds from 1000, 300, or 100 based upon what customer willing to pay for instead of limited by copper distance. Again Uverse IPTV is an option and has 1T data cap except for the internet 1000 which is unlimited.

Over the past 4 years (2016 to late 2019) ATT has expanded the fiber to cover over 14+ million addresses within the 21 state footprint which includes over 3.1 million apartment, condo addresses.

Any faster future speed would either come from ATT continued fiber expansion (slower pace than recent 3+ million per year) or 5G wireless from hotspot or future Project AIrgig.

May wish to review the ATT Fiber map for areas where fiber is being deployed...

to check by ISP using zip code...
