Setting up BG210 to work with my NetGear XR500

Hello,

Looking to get someone to help walk me through the steps required to set up my new AT&T router (BGW210) so that I can use my Netgear XR500 in its place. I read a few different suggestions but I'm sort of new to this and need a more detailed instructions set. Please let me know if you can help me!

Thanks!

Hey @sbradford2,

We can help with that!

To do this, you will need to connect the XR500 to our gateway, then set the gateway to bridge mode. We wrote a post with instructions on enabling Bridge Mode/IP Passthrough - Strict NAT? Bridge Mode? What is IP Passthrough? Can I enable on my Arris BGW210 or like router?

You may also want to disable the wireless broadcasting in the BGW210 after the fact to avoid wireless interference with the XR500.

Let us know if you have further questions!

  • Can you do this and still maintain an "Open" NAT type? Was thinking about purchasing the nighthawk xr500 today but didnt know if it would work with my at&t fiber.
