On Arris NVG 589 gateway, can no longer connect to http://192.168.1.254/ to manage settings

Up until last week, I could connect a web browser to http://192.168.1.254/ to manage local network settings, such as fixed IP allocation from DHCP. Following an AT&T service call to fix a broadband issue, this no longer works as advertised in help pages such as https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/smb-internet/KM1205126. I can still make changes using a (new to me) SHM app, but cannot access all the settings previously available.

Is the old http://192.168.1.254/ broken, or has AT&T just made it unavailable? Thanks for any info.

Tried both Firefox and Safari. Each browser gave an error message that amounted to request timed out, server not responding.

However, I was able to "fix" the problem by rebooting the gateway from the SHM app. Following the reboot, which took maybe 10 minutes, I can now connect to 192.168.1.254. So problem solved.

Hey, @kalkernel!

Thanks for reaching out! We'd be glad to help you access your gateway settings!

What error message do you get when you try to access the gateway from the browser? We'd recommend trying it from a different browser to see if that's what's at fault.

Let us know if this helps!
