Internet slows down every night
Every night, without fail, my internet slows down to the point where we can't utilize our laptops nor watch Netflix or anything else on our streaming devices. I have AT&T fiber which was their first suggestion but it hasn't fixed anything. It's to the point that while watching a show my app stopped and the message appeared that I wasn't connected to the internet. This is so frustrating I'm ready to move to another provider.

Hi all,
We have seen this issue come up frequently, even more so given the current climate.
The main reason for drops in speed in the evenings, that is the time when everyone is home and online. If everyone in the home is streaming, gaming, or using an online service that requires a lot of bandwidth, your speeds will slow down and normal.
When you factor in Wi-Fi speed and how it can drop in have because of EMI, it adds to the slow experience. Updating/ testing different Wi-Fi channels and optimizing your environment is key.
In other instances, upgrading your speed is another solution. Especially if you have a low tier plan.
While this is not the solution for all issues, it is a frequent one we see. Check out our Internet Quick Fixes for additional solutions.

I recently upgraded to ATT Fiber as well...actually one of the first on the street to utilize it. Mine drops dramatically at night, but even fluctuates significantly during the day as well.

Mine does the same thing and its quite frustrating. It gets so bad I get booted out of games I am trying to play online. It happens both via wifi and wired connection.
I have even gone to lengths of moving my computer to the living room to used a wired connections and it still does it.
I have also bought a NetGear Nighthawk AC1900 and turned off the wifi on the att router/modem combo to utilize just the NetGear--still doesnt help during the night.
Last night I was under 3mbps and this morning I'm back at 17.7mbps.
I wish I could game at night.

Same trouble here. Actually someone came out and “fixed” it today. Same thing again tonight. I have a college student that needs to do homework and testing online. This is ridiculous

I’ve got the same problem, I’ve had 5 techs out. It works when they’re here...during the day!!! But I work late, and am the only one using the internet!!! They won’t let me out of my contract and can’t fix it. I’m going to start getting on social media and letting people know to stay away from att fiber!!!!

I have att wireless, I turn off the WiFi and use the wireless network because it’s faster! That shouldn’t be the case with gigabit internet.

I have ATT Wireless. For the whole day my internet has been at a snail's pace. I've reset my router 3 or 4 times, rebooted the gateway with the SmartHome app, and it's done absolutely nothing. Everything was fine yesterday, but now I can't use any kind of streaming service and higher traffic websites like Twitter won't load at all.
