Hello,

I am trying to keep my young children safe on the internet.  I would like to block adult content from coming over my wifi.  I was not able to use opendns.com internet content filters because of firmware built into the uverse router that does not allow this.  Even the AT&T parental controls that are allegedly device specific through Smart Home Manager are only supported by windows operating system so they would not work on a chromebook or an iphone.  I spent 45 minutes on the phone with an AT&T technical support rep and he was unable to provide any solution either and seemed surprised that AT&T lacks this feature.  This page mentions that parental controls for the internet are available, but provides no information on how to install them or where to find them.  If they do exist (which seems unlikely), they need to be made more user friendly - even the tech support reps could not figure out how to support parental controls.  If AT&T cannot provide a solution, I expect I will be changing internet providers.  Thank you.

I fully agree with is post , it is unacceptable that AT&T does not make internet filter more readily available for parents.  Every solution that I have found is a 3rd party app that does not solve the issue and fix underlying issue to restrict certain content.  It's way too easy for a child to access disturbing content on the internet and the fact that AT&T does not have a readily available parental control feature is shocking.  Or, the fact that AT&T wants to charge an additional fee for this basic functionality is absurd and insulting.

I agree with the others. AT&T needs to catch up and provide parental controls. I put controls on phones and such, but it's best to have it at a router level to protect any device. I have Open DNS on a router, so I'll just have to keep using that though it throttles my speed significantly. The links on all AT&T sites that I can find point to this thread that basically say they have no way to help parents. Not cool.

You can purchase your own router with the features you want and attach it behind the ATT gateway. Easy solution that may come to ATT in a few years or have it today with features you want.

AT&T parental control (Profiles) in the Smart Home Manager app is a joke! No options whatsoever. What is so hard for AT&T to add some reasonable options on this existing app?

I'm also trying to enable some parental controls and site/content blockers at the router level.  I have the BGW210 gateway, and when I log in to it with my AT&T credentials, under Firewall, there is an option for Parental Controls.  But it says "disabled" and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it on.  Has anyone had any luck figuring this out?  It seems like a pretty basic feature that most 3rd party routers have. I've looked at the other parental/security features that AT&T offers, such as McAfee and Smart Home, etc. but they don't offer the ability to filter content at the router level--only limit time, wifi use, or through a web browser.  I think the router level is the most secure and hardest to bypass.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

BGW320-505 fiber router does not appear to have parental control for internet content.  Is there another 3rd party device that will work with this router to allow for graphic content control?
