Interference on TV when computer is on.

Interference on TV when computer is on.

Have  Vizio TV's with Internet Apps Plus. I have UVerse wireless for home phone, internet, and TV.  If computer and TV are on at the same time The Internet Apps Plus launches continuiously and can't be stopped.  If my computer is off, this doesn't happen.  Any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to ask Vizio about why their TV does that.  Smiley Wink

Failing that, it may be that your home computer is generating some DLNA traffic that your TV is reacting to, e.g. Windows Media Service.

What kind of computer are you using?

It sounds like your computer is trying to send something to the TV as the other user suggested.

What happens if you turn your computer on, but don't connect it to your network or the internet?

Re: Interference on TV when computer is on.

Just to contribute to the pool of information.....

In our home we have U-verse TV and Internet service.  We have two laptops and a desktop computer, an iPad, two smart phones....all connected through our home net.  Our two smart-TV's are a Phillips 32 inch and a Sony 55".  We have often had all three computers turned on at the same time the TV is in use.  No interference problem has ever shown up....even when using the TV to stream program material from the Internet.

However, all the earlier suggestions sound valid and should be checked into.

Re: Interference on TV when computer is on.

I'll try these suggestions.  Perhaps I can find a solution - both the ATT tech guy that did the install and the Vizio tech guy I spoke with have no idea what to do about this or have ever heard of it before.  I have actually been doing my own trouble shooting- it was me who figured out that the apps at the bottom of the TV screen only showed up indiscriminately when my laptop was on, whether I was on line or not.  I'll check to see if I turn off my wireless connection on my computer while to computer is turned on makes a difference.  I'll keep u posted.

Vicki526 - The appearance of the apps can be triggered by a button on the remote. Cover the IR sensor on the TV to see if the laptop is radiating an IR signal spoof. Also, check the TV for wi-fi remote. See if it is turned on & you can turn it off.

Post your TV model & I will look at the manual.

Re: Interference on TV when computer is on.

I have a Toshiba P755-S6253 laptop.  The TV is a Vizio with Internet Apps Plus.  Connected with wireless via UVerse.  The TV's app feature continuously triggers when my computer is on, even if I'm not on line. No problem when the computer is off.

Have you explored any of the above suggestions?
