Can I keep using my own modem and router. (SB6141)

Can AT&T use my SURFboard6141 modem with the fiber optic delivery? And is UVerse always running on fiber optics?

No, the surfboard uses the wrong technology.  And AT&T will provide the modem/gateway (for a monthly fee), and there's no way to avoid that.

AT&T uses pure fiber optics in only some deployements.  Most customers have FTTN, or Fiber to the Node.  Fiber is used to a cabinet (known as a VRAD) in your neighborhood, and then the pre-existing copper pairs are used from there to the home.
