Wiring choices

Hello, I'm trying to make cabling decision since I am moving my gateway. I have motorola gateway nvg589 incoming data on cat5e rj11 connector. I need to move my gateway! Previous install is a horrible location. Internet from gateway is fine, all wireless. It's the DVR that i am not positive about. The gateway has available rj45 Ethernet connections out available. DVR is currently connected coax. I think I have the option of running cat5e or coax from the gateway to the DVR which is a Cisco ipn430mc. So my questions are can I run cat 5e from the gateway to the DVR and if so will it gain me anything over the coax? Any help is appreciated. John

cat5 was always the prefered connection from RG to DVR, Even before whole house DVR,

Will you see an improvement? Maybe, maybe not (if it is working well now)

Thanks, just didn't want to spend cash money on cat when not really worth it. Probably not much gain. Current coax is decent.
