Wireless connection troubles
I have a netbook that will lose connectivity with the 3800HGV-B gateway and try to reconnect only to find it's private ip isn't what the gateway assigned (always selecting the same wrong address) and DHCP renewal doesn't work. This morning it couldn't see any AP, and after rebooting another strange thing is that inSSIDer showed the gateway has having an enterprise level secure connection with the outside MAC listed.
Most every kind and method of reset has been acted upon. As for the netbook I've deleted old connection data (can't find malware) (I found a profile for a network I've never even added, nobody else knows how to add them.)
So far it stays connected 40 minutes to 2 hours.
Does this exhibited behavior may mean I'll have to repair & rebuild the netbook, or do dying gateways do this?
Thanks.

Problem solved, I stopped using channel eleven combined with externally compromised signal strength (gateway is at full power) and changed the authentication back to WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES) instead of only WPA2-PSK (AES). Windows XP and/or the WLAN driver couldn't handle this combination.
Edited for clarity.
