UVerse 2Wire Gateway and Orbi AC3000

I have a UVerse 2Wire Gateway. It acts as my modem, my router, my phone landline connection and my UVerse DVR connection (wired and wireless). It is located in the extreme corner of my home, so I do not get great coverage at the other side of the house (1-story, 3800 sq ft). I have plans to add the Orbi AC3000 to get decent coverage throughout.

I have read a few  posts that recommend disabling the Wi-Fi on the gateway. My question on this is, how will that affect my wirelessly connected UVerse DVRs? Don't they need the Wi-Fi from the gateway?

The second question is just to confirm what I have read in some posts that the Orbi should be set as an Access Point. Is that correct?

Thanks

Re: UVerse 2Wire Gateway and Orbi AC3000

The wireless set top box receivers connect to the ATT WAP either a VEN401, VEN501 or 2500.

Next is desired location of Orbi, if next to or near the ATT gateway should turn wifi off to reduce wifi interference. If Orbi will be in center or other side of residence may wish to leave gateway wifi on to provide more even coverage thru residence.
