Turning off WiFi hotspot to save electricity?
I have U-verse internet service, and a desktop computer plugged into the big modem unit provided by AT&T. Everything works just fine and I have no complaint.
I understand this unit also provides a WiFi hotspot, which I never use under normal circumstances.
Is there some reasonable way (perhaps via software) to turn off the WiFi hotspot to save electricity, other than unplugging the modem when not in use?
Thank you.

On a computer connected to the gateway enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser.
Get the device access code off the side of the gateway.
Go to home network, wifi enter the device access code and turn wifi operation off.

YES, SAVE ELECTRICITY.. A small amount for each user... ADDS UP TO A LARGE AMOUNT WHEN MULTIPLIED BY MANY USERS!
.
.
When I want to REST, and cool, my ATT gateway, I just unplug it.
.
Later, I simply plug it back in, and my computer, and cell phone (WI-FI) AUTOMATICALLY RECONNECT... NO PROBLEMS.
.
Thats me, and my equipment... Others may get different results... But I think only with older equipment.
.
I think GLOBAL WARMING IS HORRIBLE!. . .
