Saving MAC filtering on a 5268 Router

WI-Fi MAC Filtering can be found under:

Settings tab then LAN tab then on the top bar find the WI-fi and select it then all the way on the very bottom you will find:

MAC Filtering

Edit Blocked/Allowed Device List  <<< click on this

 

that is what I get when I try and enable MAC filtering

I guess the point I was trying to make is: 

you get an ERROR when you try and turn on MAC filtering on so there is no point in saving it

As I first stated -- "I did first have to shut off the WPS to prevent a red box and error from occurring." -- So I no longer get that ERROR statement in the Red Box.  If you go to LAN/Wi-Fi, then scroll down to WiFi Protected Settings, you need to disable it.  You will find it in to spots, 2.4GHz and 5 GHz.  Once you save that, it should prevent the Error message. After that step is where I am.  Please let me know if it works for you.

OK  I now have MAC filtering working on my unit.  Thanks for the bit on turning off WPS .  That was the key I was missing.

Ok to save I have found that after you set a MAC address and go back to the previous page (LAN/WiFi), chose SAVE, then reboot the router.  I really think it just needs to be rebooted after you turn on MAC filtering. 

I tested this out will my iPhone after I entered my MAC address in the Blocked Devices  I was unable to use my phone's wi-fi on the my 5268 Router, hope this helps.

So I followed your tip, entered MAC addresses to Block, saved, then reset router.  It worked.  Thanks. So then, after a half hour of trial and error, I've determined that the router must be reset after EVERY change!  Did your phone get wi-fi back without a router reset? I'm playing around with the "Disable MAC Filtering" button, then going back a page and saving,but can't determine a fix with the exception of a router reset. So, technically it is a solution, but one that makes me furious! That is not feasible for how I need to utilize it. It disrupts everything in the home for ten minutes to allow/disallow wi-fi access to a specific device.  The old router allowed me to toggle back and forth without a reset.  Why would a new router take a step backwards? Very disappointed with AT&T! Sorry, needed to vent.  If you can determine a way to toggle access w/o a router reset, please let me know.  Thanks

yes I find that I do not need to save or reboot and it will work now.  Just by moving the MAC address of my iPhone from enable to disable.

In fact I just tested it and had my iPhone connected to the 5268 Router and then moved MAC address of the iPhone to the disable side and my iPhone dropped the connection.  So I think all is well for me, Thanks again for all your help!

Just as a side note, this only works for the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Radio Configuration.  If you have some one connecting with the 5 GHz Wi-Fi Radio the MAC filtering will not work at all.
