Packet losses, high latency at certain hops

Maybe I can help here....

I play World of Warcraft. For the last couple of months I've been dealing with high latency spikes.  They'll last for about 20 minutes, latency will return to normal for about 40 minutes, then it will ramp back up again. Does this every hour, it is very consistent.

Here is a meter:

There is something going on at Hop 3, not sure what the deal is.

In all my meters...the last (4) hops will have high latency when my latency is high in game. Now, I don't know if the issue is with Blizzard or is it with AT&T.  I NEED someone to help me here.

Listen man, it isn't childish asking for a return to normalcy. Something is broken, and all I'm trying to do is get it fixed.

You are just being a d ick about this.  G  T F  O out my thread unless you are actually going help.

I feel like this thread may have gotten a little off topic. Yes, gaming, in the grand scheme of things, is not a top priority. Is it important to us? Of course it is, but considering what ApexRon has brought up, it does seem like a low priority to those things.

I think what we are really looking for here, is simple. Is there an issue with the affected node? Are there better tools we can use to establish this? Is the site specifically throttling our connections or not? The long and the short of it is this, if there is a problem, we would like to see it fixed, if not, than ok, I get that.

Based on a brief reading of above posts, my initial thought is congestion during prime time evenings (every night, about same time each night)...

If the hosts needs a different routing/site that is on them...

For the gamers, like those wanting to avoid rush hour traffic, find a different time to due what you want and avoid the congestion. Things return to normal when either a downturn in traffic (people quit using blizzard) or more capacity is added.

Peering agreements are beyond the scope I will consider but reducing latency could have multiple hosting sites by region but this is on Blizzard to build those host sites or rent space in other facilities.

Thanks Yogi for replying.  It's static. While I'm not discounting congestion during primetime, I've never had this issue till a couple of months ago.

It's not a high latency that is static.  It's goes up and down.  It'll be normal for about 40 minutes, be high for 20 minutes, then return to normal for about 40, then go high again.  There is something going on along my path, but as Apex has noted, I apparently don't have the right tools to actually diagnose it.  That's why I'm here looking for help.

@wkelly78

As an end user of a gaming site you have no options. The ball is solely in the court of the gaming website as it is their customers that are impacted, it is up to them to drive this.

@djmillerjr

This is my last post to your thread. Your post has been open for two days and I am the only one to comment. Good luck on your Don Quixote like quest. I am sorry that you cannot accept the reality of the situation.

A last thought, and may have already been suggested, did you try changing the DNS on your gaming platform to try taking a different route?

Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 is most often tried.

Yes, I've tried that, but the path didn't change, at least I don't think it did. The WinMTR I use (Please suggest a better tool if you have one) didn't show a difference.  Still had the yo-yo latency tonight.

I knew this wouldn't be easy to get fixed.  I just won't accept being told....it is what it is, deal with it. That's a cop out answer.

The issue still persists.  I have Blizzard telling me it's not their issue.  I have AT&T telling me it isn't theirs either.  So, whose issue is it really?
