Need Help with Fixed wireless internet connecting to Band 2 instead of band 30

I need help with my fixed wireless. It will work great in good conditions but as soon as it rains it will switch from band 30 to band 2 (no internet on Band 2) and usually takes a day or two to correct itself. I have called into ATT support but no seems to know much about the fixed wireless. They have already had a tech come out and replace the modem but the issues has returned.

Hello @jkl48079,
Let's address your issue. After doing some research I found a similar post regarding the different bands. Do you currently have Wi-Fi or internet service of any kind?
Your device will band switch from band 30 to 2 if it detects there's an issues with the cell tower, which operates on band 30.

Yes, the internet is out. Outage began 6/5/19. I did get through to the
fixed wireless team and they did inform me that the tower is out. Still
currently waiting for the tower to be repaired.

Is there any way to find out when the tower will be repaired?

Well that was short lived, internet is down again. Was the tower ever
checked?

@jkl48079

You may want to reach out to the Fixed Wireless team again to see if this is a new problem with the tower or part of the service loss from the other day.

Just wanted to update this in case anyone else has the same issue. After talking to the tower tech, he did an aerial view of my property and pointed out the there are a lot of trees next to my house. When the service was install it was winter out and there was no foliage on the trees. Now that it is summer time the trees are full of leaves and this caused my connection strength to diminish until I lost connection with the tower. I just finished installing the antenna on a utility pole i have in my yard that only has a light on it so now the antenna is in the middle of the yard 35 ft high. I re-peaked the antenna via the router web interface (settings/broadband page) and now have a much better connection. When the unit was installed i was getting about -119 db, around 1-2 bars of tower connection, now i am getting 3 bars or around -101 db connection and have noticed a dramatic increase in download and upload speeds. I did do some experimenting with the antenna (see picture) and temped it to the pole about 6 ft high and immediately got a better connection, around -110 db or 2 bars of connection strength. Also the tower tech did say rain/humidity will have an affect on the signal strength due to band 30 being ultra high frequency. So if you already have a weak connection to the tower, rain, humidity, and tree leaves will have an impact on your connection.20190617_111308.jpg

Having problems again, At&t contractors won't / can't do anything to fix it, Said that there is nothing that they can do. So, I moved mine by myself as well to the other side of my house. I noticed that in your pic, the antenna is pointing upward. Is the tower that you connect to on a hill? I'm trying to figure out the best way to point mine. I got mine to work, it was out for a solid week after the first tech came and couldn't get a signal, second tech said the same thing and they called and spoke with ISS or something. Pretty much told me to get something else. But anyhow I am curious why yours is pointing up like that.

I pointed it up due to the temp install being so low to the ground. Here is the finished install. The higher off the ground the better. This is what a 3rd party AT&T tower tech told me over the phone.

Here is my speed after moving it to the top of the pole.
