How to increase my internet speed

When I switched over to Uverse Internet, I was told that the max internet speed that I could receive was 1.5Mbps and they were working on upgrading the speed in our area. I'm using a Pace 5168NV Modem/Router with 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 802.11n wireless technology,

My problem is I average 187.8 KB/sec. download and 45 KB/sec. upload transfer speed on both the ethernet and wireless connections

I'm trying to increase my transfer rates. My question is: Would adding a second wireless router, such as a 900N dual band router as a "bridge" or "passthrough" increase the transfer speed  and if not what alternative would I have to increase the speed.

I would greatly appreciate the sharing of similar experiences of anyone with a similar problem.

You're only going to get that data rate 187KB (1496Kb, 1.5Mb) out of your ADSL2 line.

An 'n' router would only speed things up between devices in your network. 😉

Okay! I guess I'm stuck until AT&T upgrade the U-Verse packages for our area.
