Can the SSID be turn off on the ARRIS Model Number BGW210-700 Modem/Router

I would like to not broadcast the SSID on the ARRIS BGW210-700 Modem/Router. This option does not seem to available with the 2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz  Wi-Fi turned on. Is there a way to turn the SSID off and use the WI-FI?

Thank you Ramses for replying to my question. You directed me to the correct procedure to  hide the Wi-Fi network name. Before I could hide the network name by turning on  'Hide Network Name' on both channels, I had to turn off the  Wi-Fi Protected Setup. With the Wi-Fi Protected Setup on I was only allowed to turn off only one channel.

Hey, @Down_Home!

Thanks for reaching out. We'd be glad to help you hide your SSID.

Yes, you can disable SSID broadcasting and still use your Wi-Fi. To learn how to do this and what it entails, please check out our article on how to Hide your Wi-Fi Network Name. Just choose your gateway from the drop down menu to get started.

Let us know if this helps!

No . This is not helpful.

  1. In the Wi-Fi section, select the 2.4Hz Radio or 5.0Hz Radio from the Radio Selection drop-down. The selection is not provided.

Thank you, I'm still not seeing a the proper configuration drop down menu . Could I request a modem with a better security feature. I've had three debit cards compromised due to fraud, and I'm unsure about my present settings.

Hey, @Marciano76!

What model do you currently have?

You may also want to try using our AT&T Internet Security Suite if you haven't already.

Looking forward to getting this resolved!

Thanks for getting back to us, @Marciano76.

We have another possible solution that can help keep your home network more secure.

Enabling your Wi-Fi security protects your network from unwanted users.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your gateway settings.
  2. Select Home Network > Wi-Fi.
  3. In the Access Code field, enter the Device Access Code located on the side of your gateway.
  4. Ensure the User ID is On.
  5. In the Security section, select WPA-PSK from the Security drop-down.
  6. In the Key entry field(s), enter new Wi-Fi password(s) (Wireless Key).
    • For 64-bit encryption, enter a 10-digit password made up of numbers and letters a-f or A-F.
    • For 128-bit encryption, enter a 26-digit hexadecimal number made up of numbers and letters a-f or A-F.
  7. Select Save.

Let us know your results!
