No. Old model U-verse RGs have a USB B port for connecting to PCs via USB cable as an alternative to Ethernet or WiFi. Since the NVG 589 has an "A" jack, I'm not sure what its original intended use is, but on U-verse it seems to be totally unavailable for use (except maybe as a charging port).

The USB port cannot be used for printers or hard drives. I never tried, but I suppose you can charge things with it.
