Attempting to use netgear mr1100 as Internet receiver for linksys velop wireless router

I have a Linksys Velop (3 station) router in my unfortunately large home. My local provider only can provide 4GPS max. The MR1100 hotspot provides 22GPS. I want to use the Nighthawk MR1100 as my primary internet service.

I can connect both via Ethernet cable, but am unsure as to what settings each should be set. I have assumed that the VELOP will need to be set to bridge mode, which I have found instructions for. But I am unsure as to how to set the Nighthawk MR1100 so that it ONLY passes the IP onto the VELOP. This would provide me with some protection, as I use a 128 bit password to access the VELOP wireless.

Has anyone done this with success? I can't be the only one living in a rural area with no cable/dsl available. If someone has an answer, I would definitely appreciate the help.

Re: Attempting to use netgear mr1100 as Internet receiver for linksys velop wireless router

I understand you had concerns regarding the proper setup of a Nighthawk hotspot through your Linksys router. I know that it can be a little weird, especially if it's your first time doing so, but I want to let you know I am here to help you out!

I've taken the time to research and look into this for you and based on my findings, there isn't a way of setting the Nighthawk to pass the IP only to the Linksys. The closest we can get to a workaround is to ensure a secure network key is set up on the Nighthawk hotspot. There is additional settings you will be able to look into as well to ensure that nothing other than the Linksys connects. Our wireless support page for the NETGEAR Nighthawk can give you more details on the available options and how to set them up.

I hope this helps to take care of your issue. Should you have any additional concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us and we'll be more than happy to take care of you. I hope you have yourself a wonderful rest of your day!

Re: Attempting to use netgear mr1100 as Internet receiver for linksys velop wireless router

Thank you. I was afraid that would be the answer. Perhaps AT&T will come out with a home router that uses wireless IP for this purpose. I am sure that many people across the country in Rural areas would be ecstatic to use a product for actual faster broadband access.
