After UVerse box install, my DVD/VCR box is not working

I can't find the correct thread-hope someone here can help. 3 mos after the UVerse installer left, I realized he disconnected my DVD/VCR box and now I am stumped as to how to make it work. The DVD box has 2 cables still plugged in, but they go nowhere- flapping cables. The back of the TV does not have a threaded cable input that matches the out cable from the DVD. Neither does the UVerse box. I have plug cables, but they are all either 2 prong or 3 prong, and none of them seem to match the back of the DVD box when paired with the back of the TV. Can someone take a look at these pictures and tell me how to get my DVD to work again?

Take the short cables (red, white, yellow) and plug them into the coresponding colored thingies of the OUT SIDE of your dvd/vcr.  Then place the short cables (red, white, yellow) and plug them into the coresponding colored thingies of the IN SIDE of your tv. When you want to watch tv you use the input of your you have selected for tv (eg input 1).  When you want to watch dvd/vcr you select input no. 2 ( eg input 2).

vp1 - Great pictures! - You have two options -

At the TV - Disconnect the cable from the U-verse box & connect the one from the DVD.
At the DVD disconnect the dangler at the top & connect the cable from the U-verse box.

With this connection you will need the input channel on the DVD to be channel 3 to match the output of the u-verse box. If the output channel of the DVD is also channel 3, then the TV is already set to channel 3. Probably the DVD does not have to be on to watch U-verse, but you may have to try both settings of the TV/VCR switch on the DVD.

The second way is to leave those cables alone & add two others -

At the TV connect one end of the Yellow/red white to the same colors. At the DVD connect the other end to OUTPUT same colors.

Then you need to make the same colored connections from the U-verse box to the DVD INPUT.

You can use any three connections from the other two cable, being careful to match the colors at the ends - Y-Y, R-R, W-W regardless of the cable color. Or, buy a new three wire cable with yellow/red/white ends to make matching easier.
With this connection you would watch U-vere as you do today - not considering the DVD.

To play a DVD on the TV you need to change the TV input with the remote.

To record on the DVD from the U-verse box it should just work but input settings may be needed.
