AT&T Internet Slowing Down

All of a sudden my internet speed became significantly slower.  Streaming continues to pause, and mobile devices barely work.  I assumed I used all of my data, but checked and see we have only used roughly 30% of our available data.

I complained to my friend who experienced the same thing this week through AT&T.  Our usage habits have not changed and this has not been a problem in the past.

I find it "interesting" that when I log on there is now an ad for "Wall to wall Wi-Fi with AT&T Wi-Fi Extender".  I believe my internet speed and wifi connection is being intentionally disrupted in an attempt to make me think I need to buy additional equipment from AT&T.

My home fiber internet is 120mb. Every single day when I come home I have to reset my modem because they think it's fun to lower my bandwidth to 17-20 to move it around to other people. As soon as I reset my modem it jumps back up. Imagine all the people out there who don't know that resetting will increase your bandwidth. Robbery. Their fiber internet is absolutely a downgrade to regular cable internet.

My Fiber plan is 1000mb. Speed tests show I consistently around 400-600mb, however, I can't stream a video to save my life. Something fishy is definitely going on. About to make the switch to Google Fiber.

I had to get a new router. Speed was great, everything was fine. Only 1 month later, I started losing all connection. Then they told me I needed another new router or they'd have to send someone out to check. Why aren't they checking their own lines on a regular basis?

Suddenly my speed is much slower with a brand new router. Their speed check shows my speed is lightening fast - yet every other speed test from other sites is showing much lower speeds.

AT&T is the worst. Biggest scam going.

agreed. My router stopped working during all this corona stuff and I stream from home every day. I did all their troubleshooting and they would tell me “all done!” And I’m like...no, it’s still not working. They’d tell me the connection speed is fine and all the lights are on but I cannot use the Internet on any of my devices. ATT is a scam people. Seriously. Don’t buy into it

Just had this happen recently too. All devices, both wired and on wifi get 1-3 second interruptions in connection sporadically. Only started little more than a month ago. It ruins games, disrupts streaming, and even interferes with website page loading. Reseting the router doesn't resolve it, changing settings doesn't help, and the piece of junk relies on official ATT updates which haven't even happened at all recently. I know it's the garbage ATT router since the modems connected to it and every single device is encountering the interference. I would buy a better router in a heartbeat, but ATT literally (Edited per community guidelines) you into only using their junk refurbished routers.

Start a new thread with details of your problems including your gateway model, speed plan and gateway speed test results. What type and size home, where is the gateway located. A wireless router can be installed behind the gateway to improve the WiFi signal in your home.
