3600HGV modem upgrade options

I am a u-verse customer (internet only) with a 3600HGV modem, I would like to upgrade to a newer modem with wireless N and gigabit lan ports, what options do I have?

Thanks

Options...

1) purchase the 5031 ($100 new, 1 year warranty) from AT&T... 2.4 GHz b/g/n (4) 10/100 ports.

2) add IPTV service to acquire $7 per month LEASED 589, 2.4 GHz  b/g/n (4) 10/100/1000 ports.

3) purchase your own dual 2.4/5 Ghz b/g/n gigaport router and place behind the 3600 in DMZ mode.

Re: 3600HGV modem upgrade options

Thanks.  Wouldn't option 3 still have the "10/100" bottleneck since the gigabit router would be connected to the 3600's "10/100" port?

Re: 3600HGV modem upgrade options

Bottleneck.....

If all hardwired devices are placed on 3rd party giga router, your home network would be giga for device sharing. The connection to access internet would be 10/100 but as fastest speed currently available on a single pair installed 3600 is Max Turbo (24M), the 100 connection is at least 4 times faster than the speed tier. If you have Max (12M) then the connection is 8 times faster.

Gigaport would be of benefit to home network only as even the 589 gigaport RG would only have a 45M POWER internet speed availability unless FTTP Giga (currently 300M) as in Austin Texas and soon a few more select markets.
