You may have been notified that your E-mail account is about to get unmerged. You may have had a merged account where your AT&T E-mail and Yahoo E-mail were merged into a single account, which allowed the password and inboxes to be shared.
If you are not sure if you have a merged account, it is likely you have one if:
What is Happening?
Beginning mid-November 2017, you will no longer be able to sign in to myAT&T or att.net with your Yahoo ID.
Beginning early December 2017, all merged email accounts will be separated into two separate email accounts.
What does this mean to you?
Beginning in mid-November 2017, you will need to start using your AT&T email address to sign in to myAT&T instead of your Yahoo email address.
In early December 2017, you’ll need to start signing in to your AT&T and Yahoo email accounts separately since you will now have two unique accounts.
What about my Sub-accounts?
What about my E-mails, Contacts, and Folders

In 2012, your Yahoo Mail (@yahoo.com) and AT&T mail (@att.net, @sbcglobal.net, @ameritech.net, etc.) were merged, meaning anything sent to any of those addresses came into one inbox. On 12/19/2017, those accounts were unmerged, meaning that you now have two separate and uncombined email accounts -- your Yahoo email and your AT&T email. Going forward, any email sent to your AT&T email address will show up in that inbox. Likewise, going forward, any email sent to your @yahoo.com email address will show up in that inbox. Only the basic folders (Inbox, Sent, Deleted Items, Bulk Mail, etc.) exist in your AT&T account and, aside from any new mail in your inbox, all those folders are empty. You can create new folders in your AT&T email account. Furthermore, if you had sub-accounts, they also unmerged as a separate account. Filters, disposable addresses, etc., remained with your Yahoo email account.
The good news is that you did NOT lose your old emails or folders that existed prior to the unmerging. They can still be found in your @yahoo.com account (that's why you can see them in your Yahoo mail app on your phone). The only other good news is that if you use an email app that enables unified emails on a smartphone (meaning the importing of multiple email accounts into one app), e.g., TypeApp, you can see all emails and folders as if they are combined or unified. There are probably desktop apps that do the same thing, although they may not be free.
Now for the bad news. there's probably a way, but I could not figure out an easy way to import all of my yahoo mail folders into my now unmerged AT&T email account. Even worse, assuming that you use web based email on a desktop, you cannot easily use the same browser to open both email accounts in different tabs (with some effort, you can do it but it creates other issues)! Without going into a lot of detail, the reason why will become obvious if you use my.yahoo.com. The only workaround that I could see is to open your Yahoo mail in one browser and your AT&T email in another browser. When you do, you'll notice that my.yahoo.com has a completely different look on each browser depending on the account. Another option (albeit a horrible one, IMHO) is to revert to using your Yahoo email address exclusively which is, of course, a monumental hassle if you've been using and giving out your AT&T email address for the last 5+ years.
The above is probably not the answer you've been hoping for, but I hope it helps for now.

Don't panic your older emails and folders are on Yahoo.com. Try logging in to Yahoo mail with the same username and password but use: @yahoo.com instead of @att.net.
If that doesn't get you in, use the Yahoo username retrieval or password reset help tool. If you had a merged account you should see an option to mail the link to your att.net email account which is now a blank new account.
As mentioned above by Tutor you cannot log into both Yahoo.com and att.net email pages in the same browser. (When you log into one it changes the other tab also) So if you need both open use a different browser for one of them.
Once you have the link to reset your password on Yahoo mail just follow the directions. Then log in to Yahoo mail and you should see all your old att.net emails and folders.
Unfortunately there is no way to import your folders back into the new att.net mail account. So you either have to recreate the folders in the new att.net page and forward the old emails over and resort them into the folders. But the "From" title on all of them will now read "firstname.lastname@example.org" instead of the original sender. What a pain.(And right during the holidays when you are getting shipping notices etc.)
I hope this helps someone find their emails and folders.
And if anyone knows a better way to export or import entire folders between email providers please post it.

I have installed MS Outlook on my PC and I can receive and send emails just fine, but I cannot see the folders I have set up in my inbox. I can see them on the webmail version, I can see it on my Gmail on my phone, but I cannot for the life of me get the folders to show up on Outlook. Any suggestions will be a huge help.

Now I have another problem. I have two separate email accounts now per AT&T instructions . One with yahoo.com and other sbcglobal.net. Now a new problem I cannot receive email with the sbcglobal.net account. This is the one that I have used for 17 years and would like to have my new emails received in. Can AT&T support help me with this?

The day att and yahoo merged all of my folders and email is gone. I have had an ameritech.net address for years and I have so much imporatant stuff in my folders that I need. I have restored my account twice and nothing happened. Someone please help me. Is there no one to talk to? No one to help? I’m supposed to be fine with losing everything? I guess they done care if they lose customers.

Actually it did! AT&T sent me the Yahoo email address from when they unmerged. So when I logged into my Yahoo account with the email address they gave me there was all my old emails and folders.

All of my e-mails, folders & contacts disappeared on 12-19-17. Yesterday I tried chat help to resolve the issue but the rep was NOT helpful in the least. She was more concerned with pushing other ATT products/services. I'm guessing ATT will say I should've saved all of my information elsewhere. I can rebuild my contacts list but the rest is just gone. Right now I am livid with ATT & their utter lack of technological savvy. If they can't make system changes without creating havoc for customers, then their tech team is lacking in knowledge & ability.

You are correct. I also posted here telling how to find your old emails and folders. They are now in Yahoo.com mail.
I had forgotten my old login to Yahoo mail because I never used it. I only used my @att.net mail which was merged with Yahoo years ago. (Apply what ever email service your folders disappeared from . Mine was @att.net)
Yahoo log in help sent my old @yahoo.com login info to my new un-merged and now blank @att.net mail box.
Once I logged into Yahoo mail there were all my old emails and folders that I originally created in my old @att.net mail box.
The problem is that you cannot import your folders back into your new, blank @att.net mail box. You would have to recreate the folders again and then forward each individual email to the new mailbox. And the "From" title will now read from "email@example.com" and not the original sender. Which makes it even harder to sort them out and put them into the correct folders. Yahoo apparently wants you to just use their email service and notify all your contacts of your new @yahoo.com email account. Which is easier than forwarding hundreds of emails back into your old att.net etc. mailbox and sorting them again.
Either way we lose. This should have been handled much better.
Thanks for your post e424932 also explaining this. I guess people are not reading our posts and understanding this.

Gerbert & Christne33, Your emails and folders are now over in Yahoo.com mail. Log in there and you will see them.
I'm telling you this from my personal experience of finding my old emails and folders that disappeared from my att.net mail account when Yahoo and att.net un-merged their email services on 12/19/17. See my other posts Digitalozzie or aussiegrl's post if you need more info.
