Yahoo Mail Password Reset

Yahoo Mail Password Reset

When I signed up for Uverse a number of months ago, AT&T merged my 15 year old yahoo email account with my At&t ID.  Problem is, the att.net email and yahoo.com email are not truly linked.  My yahoo mail log in password does not match up with my att.net mail password.  I tried setting a new password through the At&t account management site as instructed, but my yahoo password still has not changed.  Ack!  I have spend an hour of my work time trying to change a password on a basic yahoo email account and do not have another hour to waste sitting on the phone trying to contact At&t tech support.  HELP!!!

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

Hi, the link goes to a page that tells you how to reset your att-related account password. The problem I'm facing is the inability to reset my yahoo mail password, not my att password. When I tried to change my yahoo mail password, it pointed me to att site asking me to login to my att account. My yahoo mail is separate from my att mail so changing my att password doesn't change my yahoo mail password. I even tried a suggestion from other forums to add account under manage sub-account tab but it doesn't work because you can only add pre-set "@att.net" account not "@yahoo.com" account. Please help.

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

My YAHOO mail account was also hacked and there was no way to change the password as I was caught in the circular links that lead all attempts back to ATT where my YAHOO password cannot be accessed. After several frustrating calls to ATT support, one of the support personnel suggested i search for YAHOO email support on a search engine. When trying this, the results do not really yield any useful information as apparently, YAHOO does not want anyone callling them with problems. What the search results DO yield is a multitude of "PC Care specialists" masquerading as YAHOO support personnel. If called, they offer to "secure your PC" for around $500.00. I'm sure many people have been taken by this out of frustration innot being able to have a solution for email support. I still have no solution, as the many people I have spoken to at ATT all tell me they cannot help me with YAHOO mail issues and there seems to be no way to contact anyone connected with YAHOO. Very frustrating. Is the only solution to drop ATT and move to another service provider?

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

Assuming everyone here has an AT&T email account to go along with there yahoo email address.

To correctly maintain your free email accounts make sure that you update your security questions and answers and use an alternate email address for your contact email address. This way when your password no longer works all you need to do is go to att.com (official website) and click on forgot password. Enter your  AT&T email address for your user id and you'll have 2 options, Receive a temporary password via contact email address or Answer Security Questions. Answers to your security questions are case sensitive so make sure that you notate you answers clearly with capital letters when you update your questions and answers.

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

I created an ATT Access ID today in an attempt to access my home phone account online.  Right then, I lost contact with two yahoo email accounts that were somehow associated with my ATT DSL email account.  ATT tech support says there is no way that creating the Access ID could have anything to do with my Yahoo accounts.  However, I later determined that both Yahoo accounts were now using the unique password I created for the ATT Access ID.  I've deleted the (apparently evil) ATT Access ID, but I still cannot change the passwords on my Yahoo email accounts.  It's as though ATT hacked them and is blocking me from regaining control.  (Just like the other postings here, when I try to reset the passwords, I get bounced to an ATT website that can't change Yahoo passwords.)  Has anyone found a solution to this mess yet???

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

[ Edited ]

Update:  I have now invested over 10 hours in this problem, including several hours on the phone with tech support.  As I mentioned in my previous post, the first ATT tech support person I talked with flatly denied that my Yahoo and ATT (sbcglobal.net) accounts could in any way have been merged.  Only after diagnosing the problem myself, and finding numerous posts on this forum did I conclude that the tech support person was plainly mistaken.  Subsequently, I talked with a different ATT tech support person, who eventually came to understand the problem. (This helpful person was on the Yahoo escalation team.)

Unfortunately, after hours on the phone, including time spent screen-sharing, ATT is still unable to solve this problem.  The only solution ATT can offer (and two different people have offered this "solution")  is to disconnect my DSL line and the 5 associated email accounts for my family, then reconnect my DSL (which might take several days), and start everything over from scratch - all new email accounts, etc.  Of course, there is no way I'm shutting down my family's email accounts for several days, so this isn't a feasible solution.

My suggestion to any current ATT DSL customers: 1. If you have Yahoo email accounts, do not provide that information on any ATT account website.  The website gives NO INDICATION that doing so may cause the accounts to be merged.  2. If you have Yahoo email accounts and have already shared that information with ATT, DO NOT CREATE AN ACCESS ID, because that is what triggered the apparently irreversible merger of my accounts.

At this point, ATT has GIVEN UP on trying to unmerge the accounts they merged.  (I don't for a minute believe that there isn't a way to fix this without "nuking" my ATT DSL and email accounts.)

THE ONLY PRACTICAL SOLUTION FOR AN ATT DSL CUSTOMER WITH THIS PROBLEM.............IS TO BECOME A FORMER ATT DSL CUSTOMER.  (Then the merging problem can indeed be solved, as described multiple times in this forum.)

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

I have had the same issue and there seems to be no resolution from ATT or Yahoo.  After spending hours trying to find a solution, I called ATT Connectech.  Within minutes it was working after resetting my Yahoo password only to fail again while I was on the phone with him.  He says he sees the issue "all the time" but could not give me a permanent fix.  This is an inherent problem in the ATT system that they apparently cannot fix.  He told me to go to Yahoo and reset my password when it occurs again but this is not a fix since it occurs every 15 minutes, or so.  Our issue is that we have no other choice than to use DSL from ATT since we have no cable access and Direct TV uses ATT DSL services.  Not sure how they get away with charging for a service that does not work but I suppose deregulation allows them to charge for services that do not work since there is no longer any oversight by anyone.

Re: Yahoo Mail Password Reset

I also had this experience, gave up, and now feel the need to change my password and the Yahoo mail interface will not allow me to change the password due to the "merger."  Days invested in this and reached the same conclusion.  The fact that AT&T has no posts at all in this thread and that neither Yahoo nor AT&T are willing to do anything to me suggests a collusion to do something illegal, which is called slamming.  They are holding email accounts hostage illegally.
