How do I delete my @bellsouth.net email account?

I have tried instructions listed here: https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1010448/, and they do NOT work. That is only for email accounts ending in @att.net.

The email is also not linked to myAT&T account, so I cannot do it that way. This is ridiculous.

That above exercise was pure you know what!  I have been working on trying to get rid of two email accounts for several hours and you make it sound like it is no problem!  I have not had any other ATT/Yahoo/DirectTV accounts for over a year.  Just a free SBCGlobal email and a ATT.Net email.  I do not want either of them. I am trying to simplify my life and I do not need them.  Surely there must be a way to simply get out of them.  Your rote answer to go to Profile >Contact info>Select Email tab... where I always end up with out any other place to go.  There is no "under Free AT&T email account on the page".  Therefore "your email account can't be deleted.", You have to be kidding.  So I am stuck with it forever?  Really?    I am still receiving emails on "jundep@sbcglobal.net" if you really have a solution to get out of this endless circle of frustration.  I have spent too many hours trying to get some resolution, including talking to a tecy who couldn't find an answer on her script.  She didn't get past the question of what is my  account number and since I do not have any, she couldn't find an answer on her script page.  Really frustrating after spending 20 minutes or more listening to her hemming and hawing!
