Email Sub Accounts

Is there any current valid info on here about how to manage your email sub accounts?  I can't find anything earlier than 2015 and it's obviously out of date.

My wife and I account used to be two separate accounts. She accidently clicked the Butten that join the accounts together, making one primary and the other sub. I would like to  have two separate primary accounts . One for my wife and one for me no sub please.
