Delete Email Account

I have an sbcglobal email account that I no longer use.  All it receives now is spam, but I have to monitor it just in case something important regarding my previous business communication comes through.  How can I delete this email account, so it will no longer receive messages? I would like for senders to receive an "undeliverable" message if they try to use it?

Great question, @226trop!

You can delete your email address if it is not connected to a paid AT&T service or if it has been 30-60 days since service cancellation or disconnect. Has your email ever been connected to a paid AT&T service? If not, we have an article that explains  how to delete your AT&T email account.

Before you delete your email please read the following information about deleting an email address.

  • You can delete a free AT&T email account that's never been associated with a paid AT&T service.
  • Deleting a Member ID will delete and subscriptions created with that account.

We hope that this information was helpful to you. If you need further assistance do not hesitate to reach back out. We are always happy to help.

I did not find the email I need to delete.  It is an old one that is bellsouth.net  It is my husbands account and he has dementia so he never uses email any more.  The account has 47,000 emails in it.  I can't go through and delete all of those.  What can I do?

I have a similar issue. My account is an att.net account. I've gone through all the steps in the document that explains how to delete the account, but when I click "delete account" and verify that yes, I am sure I want to do this, nothing happens. The status is still "active."  I have not had a paid ATT service for over a year. Now what do I do?
