Can receive but not send emails

Can receive but not send emails

Suddenly this past weekend, all emails I try and send from Yahoo using my sbcglobal address end up in my drafts/outbox folder (depending on which device I am using--PC or iPhone/iPad). This also happens when I access my account through att.net. I can, however, receive and send emails through gmail (my temp solution to this problem is that I am forwarding all my sbcglobal messages to gmail). The error message says something to the effect that my server does not support relaying. Is this a settings issue? How do I fix it?

Re: Can receive but not send emails

It began suddenly on Saturday (possibly late Friday). Since this is
happening on all my devices, I don't think it is an updating issue,
however, it appears to me that everything is up to date.

Re: Can receive but not send emails

Hello @kskilling, this may be an issue with the server you’re currently using, based on the error message.

Have you tried all the troubleshooting steps listed in the previous post in regards to the link provided?

Also, have you tried contacting Yahoo support to see what they have said in regards to this issue?

Re: Can receive but not send emails

Where do I check the pop and smap settings? I suspect that may be where the issue lies. However, while the article tells me what the settings for outgoing mail should be, I can't figure out where to check them.

I did try online chat with ATT. They did not make any suggestions or try and help me solve the problem but did kick the conversation to a supervisor who tried to sell me a troubleshooting service. Not helpful

Thank you.

Re: Can receive but not send emails

The server settings are specified here.   But before you look at your email clients try sending an email to yourself in the webmail and see if you get that "doesn't allow relaying" error there too.  I've seen a number of reports recently about that relaying error.  Most, if not all, from users with legacy accounts (maybe all sbcglobal accounts but I am not keeping records).  Try changing your password (e.g., Forgot ID/Password) and then see if you can send to yourself with the webmail.  If you can then odds are your email client will be working again too (assuming they have the documented server settings).

Re: Can receive but not send emails

Hey, @kskilling.

Just for clarification, you mentioned that the error is different depending on the device you're using. Does that mean that you are getting the error on a specific device, or is it across all devices you use?

The POP and IMAP settings should only be applicable if you're using an email client such as Outlook or Apple Mail. You can find where to locate those settings based on the email client in our email client support article.
