How do I change my Yahoo email password?

How do I change my Yahoo email password?

OK, I spent about 6-8 hours on this.

My dilemma:

att.yahoo.com manages my email

i had a yahoo login that got hacked, giving them access to both my sbcglobal.net account and my yahoo. the sbcglobal is my primary email

they were sending out spam

what i tried:

1) went to the change password, which allowed me to change the sbcglobal.net password, but the yahoo password was unchanged

2. i did hours of chat, and despite some well-meaning chat people, the problem remained unsolved

3) ATT thinks that because the accounts are linked, a change to the ATT PW should automatically update the Yahoo PW, but it did not

4) they twice had me call ATT specialist groups, neither of whom could solve it

5) they redirected me to Yahoo support, giving me numbers; those groups are scams; they are third party groups that want to charge you $100 for a complicated fix that may or may not work

6) yahoo does not seem to support PW changes any more; I could not find a CR 800 number

7) i tried "manage email accounts" in the ATT interface that supposedly would help me de-link them, but my yahoo account was not listed

what i did that finally seemed to work:

1) I logged into my yahoo account and went to my profile page

2) i had a bunch of old accounts listed there as contact emails, some current, some defunct; these I was able to edit directly

3) i did have my sbcglobal account as one of those accounts

4) they still required an email to communicate with me, so i gave them a gmail account I have (had to verify it)

5) i deleted all the other emails, including my sbcglobal email from my profile page

After that, my old yahoo PW no longer worked and it was now the same PW as my ATT email. My guess is that for some reason having that email in the profile blocked it from connnecting and allowing the PW change to go through. Or maybe it just finally updated for another reason.

But, I think I have control over my PW again. In fact, I just went and changed it via the ATT interface and went back and logged into my Yahoo account and it needed the PW I had just created. So they seem to be linked. So check to see if you have your ATT email as one of your emails in the Yahoo profile. If it is there, get rid of it.

I, with the thousands of people you're royally angering, feel the frustrations of @Fritzrobert.

You guys can't be a bigger group of boneheads disguised as a company. Please let us change our password so we can secure our emails. Mine for instance, has been hacked and is spamming my contacts.

How can a company this big not be able to solve an issue like this? I dont understand.

Does anyone have a solution for changing my yahoo password?  I have an at&t email account that doesn't change my yahoo password.  My account has been hacked and I am spamming my contact list.  Help.  I don't know who to contact.

Technically, you would need to contact yahoo customer support, BUT, good luck finding the link. (Seriously, if somone knows the link, please share it.)

You could send a message to att support, but their e-mail is provided entirly by Yahoo.

I have heard of folks getting help thru the att customer care team, but I am also hearing folks say, they need to contact yahoo, too.

Suposedly, there is a way to control your account settings, for e-mail, including your password, thru your myatt login thru the create or manage accounts under the internet tab under the myatt main tab.

I wish i were more help, but with the yahoo site up for sale, everything related to them is in a state of flux.

Same issue and the last person on chat basically ended the session on me. I've changed my att.com password 3 times tonight but it does not change my @sbcglobal.net password and there

isn't a link anymore to change it. What is your problem ATT. This shouldn't be this difficult to do.

This link above just brings you back to changing att.com password not any email with @sbcglobal.net

Not a clue if they can help you, BUT, you can try sending a private message tro att customer care, and see if they can help you with resetting your sbc account. (keep in mind, yahoo does all of att's e-mail service, including the "legacy" domains, and with yahoo bing sold, things are in a state of flux, and may be no help available until after the sale. But, you might get lucky.

Pick one of their care team links (any will work) and send a message with your name, account, phone, contact email, best time to connect with you, and a message with your needs. Give them a couple days or so to get back with you, and I hope they can help.

This issue is not solved for me. Following the instructions above redirects me to an AT&T login. I cannot log into AT&T as I have discontinued that service years ago. I do not have an AT&T email account. I need to change my yahoo password because my password may have been compromised. All roads apparently to lead to an AT&T login. It's a nightmare.
