Fiber not available at my house, but available across the street

I currently have DSL service and have had for roughly 15 years. I also have a rental property next to me that is unserviceable by att due to “the box being full”. Recently, a new neighborhood was completed across the road and att gigapower is available. The service box sits roughly 75 yards across the street from my rental property and 150 yards from my house. I would like to get att fiber but when I go online my address is not suported. I am unsure who to contact on trying to get my address and our rental property re-evaluated as my DSL has near unuasable packet loss and the rental house is “unserviceable”.

Any help is appreciated

Josh

Hello @joshcarpenter3,

It is my understanding you are looking to upgrade your internet service.

The reason the new area has the ability to get Gigapower internet is because they have the correct infrastructure in place.  This not only includes the node, but also the correct band of wire running form the node to the home.

To upgrade the wiring in your neighborhood would require digging up the road and upgrading the cable.  This is a very expensive process and requires approval by your local community.

I recommend you visit our AT&T notify me site.  By filling out this form you let us know where there is am demand for AT&T Internet service upgrades and you be notified if and when it is available.

Thank you for accessing the Community Forums, and have a great weekend.

Anthony,

Sorry if my original post was misleading, I do not live in a neighborhood. I live on a large piece of land that lies across the street from a subdivision. My problem is that until the subdivision was created only DSL available in this area. They brought AT&T fiber in for the neighborhood which sits directly across the street from my house, and my rental house next to mine. The AT&T fiber box sits less 25 yards from the road across the street from my house. I guess my question would be who could I talk to about allowing me and my neighbor (whose house which I own and is "unserviceable" by AT&T) to be connected to the AT&T service that is available across the street. I understand the road would possible have to be bored or cable hung from the poles that run across the road.

Thank you,

Good morning @joshcarpemter3,

At this point we can do what is called an address validation.  Since I will need your address to fill out this request, I will need to ask we move this conversation to a more private venue.

Check your forums inbox, located in the upper right.  There you will find a private message form me.   Respond to this request with the required information, and we will begin from there.

I also recommend you visit our Notify Me page and fill out the form.  This website accomplishes two things.  It will let our engineering team know when new service is requested and will also let you know when it comes available.

Thank you for your time, and have a fantastic week.

HA, good luck with the black abyss  I mean notify me link...I've filled out so many times, never a reply.  ATT begin laying Fiber ALL around me I got excited....then they stopped TWO houses from me.  The contractors laying it said that was the end of the road for it.  I have a friend in ATT Network operations center...that was on that project, he too verified that is where they would stop with NO plans to go further. (this was 3-4 YEARS ago) He suspects this is because ATT is going to focus on 5G cellular and get that going a 1 gig then you'd get like a cellular router at your house...ta daa 1 gig internet.  Again that was 3+ years ago, now he says that 5G thing for home internet is "its coming" for a LONG time but no new news.  Think of the money ATT would save, No RT (Huge underground rooms with 1000' of cards etc) No VRAD (aka cross box a refrigerator sized box you see around neighborhoods) an NO laying fiber.  I just wish they'd do it! Whats the hold up!!! Verizons had 1 gig fiber for almost two DECADES here in Dallas. (I can't get verizon)  Two decades in the tech world is 3+ life times. So I was stuck with 75 meg Uverse, which 5 years ago...eh? so so.  I finally switched to Cable internet...YUCK.  its 1gig.  Cable's speed is NOT static, but on a BAD BAD day, 750 meg is 10 times better than 75 meg.

so! you click that notify me link!! The check is in the mail, I'm here from the IRS to help! and I think we all know the third lie.  Thats just poor poor poor work ATT....prove me wrong.
