How long after fiber is laid is a fiber installation available?

Months ago, AT&T laid fiber in our neighborhood - at least I assume it was AT&T.  The new handholes at the end of each block say AT&T and there are 2 new cabinets down by the vrad.  I've even seen AT&T trucks out in the neighborhood splicing fiber.   The OSP crew came and fixed the landscaping that was disturbed during the install, so I can only guess that they are done laying the fiber.  I haven't seen anyone from AT&T in the neighborhood in a long time now.

It appears that no one in the neighborhood is eligible for fiber on AT&T's website.  How long after fiber is laid is a fiber installation available?  AT&T seems to know nothing when I call them.  Oddly, we all got door hangers from Comcast saying that 'Gig internet is coming soon", but nothing from AT&T.

Thanks

Hello @jasonm74,

Thank you for your interest in AT&T Fiber!  From everything, you have mentioned, it does sound like fiber is on its way to your neighborhood.  We do have some helpful resources which help verify your service availability.

First, this one will be to check the unified availability for services.  You can find more details about the services as well as its availability locations here.  You can review this forum about possible reasons why your service is unavailable in your location.  Please sign up to be notified when AT&T Fiber is available for you!

If the service is available, you can order it from these links.  If service is not available, we would suggest signing up for the availability notification from previous link.  This next site will describe AT&T’s future plans for Fiber Network expansion.

I hope this information helps you out.  Have a great day!

I wonder if AT&T has plans to expand Fiber to all of the current subscribers. I have been with AT&T for over 10 years and I can't get reassurance that Fiber is coming to my home soon if ever. I live in Columbus, Ohio where there is Fiber available in areas. Can someone tell me more information about the rollout?

Thank you for the quick reply! I have FTTN. My current internet speed is 75 mbs. Is FTTP more likely to come to my neighborhood since we already have FTTN?

Techs and ATT online chat both responded fiber was being installed near me and I should have it in a month. No sign of install trucks and the map shows nothing in 70 miles of my zip code 35903. Please update the info as if ATT fiber is not going to be available I will have to switch to cable from dsl and I hate the cable provider here.

We had fiber installed in July and a storm took it out on July 25th and we are still without internet on August 7th.  I haven't seen an AT&T truck at site since July 26th.  Neighbors next store have Northstate fiber and they have had it since the 26th and Spectrum neighbors have service.  I am not sure if we will have to change companies to get internet again.  No one at AT&T seems to know what is going on

I am looking at a house for sale. It has a fiber wire from the tech panel closet inside the house to the side of the garage. ATT does have fiber in the community. Do ATT techs splice the 2 fiber wires together and put the fiber device in the tech closet?
