I called earlier this month regarding increasing my internet speeds (upload) I was told over the phone that 24mbps down and *UP TO* 3mbps was the only upgrade. I get online and open chat and have been told twice fiber will be available by the end of the month. Who do I believe? Don’t want to pay 99$ installation fee for a tad bit faster internet speeds and in 2 weeks have fiber available.
Area code is 31217.

There is no publib information, map or timeline for a IF or when fiber service will be available to any particular address, street or neighborhood.
There is the ATT map that shows city, but not every address in the city will receive direct fiber.
The current 4 year (2016-2019) is scheduled to reach 12.5+ million addresses in 21 states which represents about 18% of all addresses in footprint. Of the 12.5 million,3 million or about 25% will be MDUs such as apartment, condo complexes.
For 80+% of addresses will have same option start of 2020 as had at start of 2016. The Uverse FTTN or fiber to the node, deployment took 10 years (2006-2015) to reach 33 million addresses or about 42% of then footprint.
Contractor activity on street is the only indication that ATT direct fiber may be offered soon. Normally 3 to 6 months after first activity started.

@Gee10304 as previous stated no publicly available time line
Shows 95% of addresses in that zip code has Frontier, the ILEC for that area. 26% has ATT fiber and 13% has Google fiber, both being overbuilders in Frontier territory.
The 2015 announced 4 year plan to reach 12.5+ million addresses by end 2019 is rapidly approaching. If have no contractor installing fiber now or soon, likely not happening this decade.
Check availability and notify in post 3.

They are liars. I got At&t service because I was told by the representative selling me the service that we’d have fiber. After 4hrs of installation, I asked the technician about all the fiber optic advantages and he told me that my service was not optic fiber because it’s not available on my street! So I cancelled everything at the same day and now I’m receiving a bill. Don’t trust them and have everything you do with them documented.
