AT&T Fiber Now only offers 300Mbps
The AT&T web site indicated that my neighboorhood was eligible for 1Gbps and one could order it. However now (within the last month), the website only offers 300Mbps. Does this mean there are too many homes hanging off the same fiber link to sustain the higher speed?

The farther you are from the CO, the slower the internet they offer.
That's why they say "UP TO 1GBPS".

The distance to the CO usually has little to do with it. The number of customers AT&T wants to serve in an area probably has a lot more to do with it. A fiber can only carry so much bandwidth, and AT&T only has so many fibers.

Like I said, AT&T originally offerred 1Gps to my home. Apparently they now realize that they have over subscribed the resources in my neighboorhood. 😞

ONLY 300Mbps???? The tech that installed our Uverse Internet said that anything over 24 Mbps is overkill and I have to agree, since before that our 3 Mbps DSL did everything that I wanted, needed to do, but of course I am not a GAMER 🙂
