When did AT&T Fiber become available in my neighborhood?

When did AT&T fiber become available in my neighborhood?

I live in San Francisco, CA in the 94117 area.

workers from AT&T were out pulling fiber and then terminating and testing it this year (2018).  i think it was May or June of 2018.  i talked to the workers on several occasions because the process was really quite interesting, but i do not remember the month!

anyway, i've gotten into a debate with a friend about when the install was actually performed and, separately, when service became available.  my friend claims it was February or March that the fiber was installed!

can anyone tell me when fiber was installed in my neighborhood, or can you tell me when fiber internet became available?

i'm really fixated on figuring this out.  if you can't tell me when this happened, do you know whether i can find out by contacting the Calfornia PUC or official AT&T representatives?  i assume there must have been some plans filed for this build out ...

Hello @charmster, let’s get your question addressed!

Before moving further, please remove your actual address from the forums environment for your safety.

We have the availability tool which is used to check and verify if fiber is in your area. Please use that as a reference!

Hope this helps!

I'm afraid you misunderstood my question.

I'd like to know "when did AT&T fiber became available?" not "Is AT&T fiber available now?".

Don't worry -- that's not my actual address, just an address nearby.

I hope you can answer my question or suggest someone that can.

Hey @charmster,

We'd like to still ask you to remove the address from your post as it could compromise the safety and security of those that live there. Thank you very much for your consideration.

We do not have a time table for completed fiber installations, so unfortunately the Community Forums team would be unable to assist you with your friendly debate.

Another place you could pose your inquiry would be the AT&T Buried Wire Center at 800.924.9420, Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET. We cannot guarantee that they will have the information, but we believe it's worth a shot.

Let us know if you find out the answer! We want to know who wins!

I would be happy to remove the address i mentioned in my original post -- despite the fact that it is not my home address -- but i don't see a way to edit (or even delete) my post.

can you tell me how to edit my previous post?

thank you for your suggestion to contact the AT&T Buried Wire Center!  i will try and give them a call on Monday to see if they can help.

if not, i hope the San Francisco Planning Department or California PUC has some information about when AT&T was running new cables in the neighborhood.
