How can I find out when AT&T Fiber is available in my area?

I'm just trying to find out when AT&T FO Internet service will be available at my house.  I know some others close by in my neighborhood have the service now and I see AT&T working close to my house.  But there seems to be no way to find out a time schedule for my street.  if I knew I may hold off making a new contract with Comcast.

Hello @joepiccaso,

Thank you for reaching out to us. At this time we don’t have an exact time services in your area with be running. As you stated you do see AT&T Techs out working close to your house.

They are working as quick as possible to get the whole neighborhood’s services up and running. We do greatly appreciate your continued patience while they are working to get this all resolved.

If you have any other questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you,

I really wasn't looking for an exact time, just a good Ball-Park.

  @joepiccaso,

To make sure you are up to speed on the restoral of your internet service. I would like to provide you with a link to our U-verse availability Tool. You are able to access it with our address to see when it will be available and ready to us again.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

Thank you

Thanks, Dylan, but this says nothing about Fiber, and it also, says there
are multiple units at this address, which there isn't. It makes me select
the "Basement" address, which at some time in the past it could have had
separate service, but that had to be years before I bought the house. And
it says "Uverse" TV isn't available for that, but I have had Uverse TV
since I've lived here, but it just got way too expensive. Fiber is in the
neighborhood, because I know people close by that have it, it's just not on
my street yet. I've been told that they don't know when, or if, they will
make it to my street, so I gather I'm stuck with Comcast for awhile longer.

I'll jump into this discussion. I was told Uverse was available for me a couple years ago. I signed up. I have phone and Internet, no TV. Fine. No big problems. Except: I was told this was fiber when installed. I was Not told that 911 won't work when electric power is out. The old phone worked even when power was out. Minor inconvenience now that we have cell phones. But not too long ago, I had trouble receiving signals on both phone and Internet. Calling on my cell phone was my only option. My TracFone charges all incoming and outgoing calls, so it cost me 25¢  a minute fooling around with ATT techs. (And everyone knows who fast they are). We finally got everything working and it's fine for quite a few months now. However, at the time they repaired the lines, I was told I DO NOT have fiber. That fiber ends a few miles away and I'm on line. ?? If I was on line, the phone should work without electricity. Since it need electricity, it is not line. Or that's the way I figure it. But who am I. Just another sucker on ATT with no other options. The only Internet where I live is Broadband, which costs a bundle and is very un-reliable. High winds or intense rain, and whoosh - There goes the Internet down. At least Uverse has been good for Internet. I see no difference in the phone. There - I got this off my chest. 🙂

Your message I understand that Uverse is Fiber at some point, but not at the home
connection. it's copper from your house. But, it's not the same line as
the old landline connection which was energized to make your phone work
even when the power was out. You apparently had VoIP (voice over internet
protocol) phone service, which will go down if your internet went down.
Even on fiber you'll lose your phone when the power goes down because of
the Modem/Router device needs power. We've all learned that AT&T Customer
Service and Tech help leave a lot to be desired and whether by choice or
but design, they tell you all manner of stuff.

When I moved they told me to take my equipment with me and they would
suspend my account. I said it would be several months as I was renovating
a house, and they said No Problem. I stored my household items, including
my AT&T equipment. A month or so later I received an email that my account
was terminated and to return the equipment or I have to pay $700 for it.
The people that bought my house wanted Uverse, so they terminated my
account to accomplish that. I had put the equipment in storage and would
have to totally unpack a 20' long storage pod to get to it. It was just
crazy. I'm now being threatened for doing what I was told to do, and
people basically calling me an dolt for believing the AT&T CS and not
reading the mice type in the contract.

Initially, they said I couldn't get Uverse at my new address, but the next
door neighbor had it. Eventually, they did install me with no hitch. I
later had to change to Comcast because AT&T just got way too expensive.
Now they are saying that they cannot give me Uverse and only have my
Basement as a valid address. It says I have multiple addresses, but the
Basement is the only only it will pull up. And, I've had Uverse service
there before, in my name.

I know AT&T is installing fiber very close by in my neighborhood, and All I
am asking is can you give me an estimate of when it may be available on my
street. But, they cannot. They cannot identify my house, which had Uverse
wired into my house. I can switch back and forth when one goes crazy with
the pricing as they are apt to do. Actually, Comcast has become much
friendlier and helpful and recognizes loyalty more than AT&T. That's a
reversal of major proportion. So, moral of this story is, "It is what it
is, and don't lose sleep over it."

Yes. That's what I have. And yes, the price keeps going up. Why? They added an "Administrative Fee" and increased the "Federal Universal Service Charge" . A couple dollars here and a couple dollars there. When I changed the service the last time, the prior bill/Jan was under $70. This last was almost $80. So a change in service didn't help. Actually, I do like ATT.  As long as the phone and Internet keep working and I don't have those interruptions. LIKE: Broadband/AirCanopy & TierOne. I don't know about Comcast or the others.

My price went way up because my promotional deal expired and they
misrepresented the renewal deal, they left the internet charge out. I like
the service as well, but couldn't afford it anymore. I went with Comcast
because I could get internet, local TV channels and Showtime for
$40/month. AT&T basically, made me cut the cord and it's been pretty
good. We'll see what happens when this promotion comes up for renewal.
All AT&T had to do was renew me as I asked and I'd still be with them, but
they went up about $70/month. if Comcast renews me "As Is" then I'll stay
with them, If not, then hopefully, I 'll know if I can get FO from AT&T by
then, but I won't hold my breath as they don't know their plans or time
table now.

Yes. That's what ATT did to me. I had signed up for "basic/200 phone" and the minimum Internet. When I protested the increase because of "end of the promotion". They offered to change the phone to unlimited. I said NO. I never use more than 200 minutes/calls per month. Then they offered higher speed Internet. The price would increase only $10/Mo. But when all the "extras" were added in, the total increased more than the $10. They never tell you what those extras are. But I was satisfied with this. And I noticed I was paying $10 for Account Charges. So I went to chat again and asked how to get rid of that. They said "go to 18 Mbps". That added $10 to the phone while deleting that Account Charge. I figured that was a wash. Now the bill is $10 more. And another thing. The phone is going from $20 to $25. I went to chat and they offered a $5 discount. Whoopie! So I am now enjoying a $5 discount and paying more than $20 than the original deal. I still like Uverse. The Internet is fast and I have no trouble with that. It's just the cost keeps going up. An "Administrative Fee" my eye. What administrative that they had not provided before. Let's go back to the Bell system. LOL

Just curious, but you don't have a cell phone?  Why do you need their phone?  get a Magic Jack for $20 a year and carry it with you where ever you travel.  I use mine just to catch all of the marketing calls and put that number down when I fill out forms.  best $20 I've ever spent.
