Does anyone know if AT&T has been impacted by the recent VPNFilter router malware issue?

Hello everyone,

I've heard in the news of the VPNFilter router malware issue affecting many consumer grade routers that can be bought via big box stores like Best Buy.

https://www.symantec.com/blogs/threat-intelligence/vpnfilter-iot-malware

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/06/vpnfilter-malware-infecting-50000-devices-is-worse-than-we-thought/

Has anyone heard if ISP provided routers have been affected, specifically the ones provided by AT&T for U-verse fiber service (Pace 5268ac is the one I have)

Is there a way to confirm that the version of the software installed, 10.7.0.530220-att, is the latest and force an update if it is not?

Are there any recommended changes to the OOTB setup for these to help mitigate risk?

Greetings @NWA_User,

Welcome to the Community Forums! I can certainly understand the concern when it comes to internet security. At this time there have not been any reports of customers being affected by this Malware issue.

For added security, you are welcome to change your password. There is also the option to download and install AT&T’s Security Suite.

As for your gateway software, what you currently have will be the latest version. Any updates will be pushed to your device when ready.

I hope this helps. If you have questions, please feel free to reach back out to us. Take care and have a great day!
