Att 1000 internet recommend gigabit router

Should I get a netgear nighthawk route to pair with the equipment AT&T is sending me in the mail so I can get the full 1000mbs  I’m paying for

Hey. The AT&T router you are getting supports 1000Mbps. So its not mandatory to get a 3rd party one. After you install the services download the Smart Home Manager app and do a speed test to check what is the real speed the router has, most probably will be around 995Mbps

1000 is only obtained on a hardwired device....

Current wireless devices are not capable of those speeds....

 

So testing hardwired, with only 1 device in use, to ATT server (staying on network).... with a device capable of these speeds?
